Dorman® Aluminum Spacer Bar is used during the fabrication of insulated glass units to create and maintain a controlled space between individual glass panes. The spacer forms part of the perimeter assembly and helps establish the cavity required for the insulating system. Its hollow profile provides space for desiccant material, while the perforated structure allows moisture from inside the cavity to reach the desiccant. The spacer bar is suitable for standard double-glazed windows, doors, façades, partitions, and other architectural insulated glass applications where consistent pane spacing and reliable edge construction are required.
Dorman® Aluminum Spacer Bar is manufactured from 1000 Series Aluminum Alloy, selected for its good combination of mechanical strength, durability, and formability during insulated glass fabrication. The profile features a hollow internal chamber with uniform perforations designed to support effective interaction between the sealed cavity and the desiccant material. The aluminum construction provides good resistance to corrosion and oxidation, helping maintain the profile’s performance during handling, fabrication, and service. Its smooth and bright surface contributes to consistent processing and assembly, while the profile is suitable for conventional secondary sealant systems used in insulated glass production. The spacer is supplied in different nominal A-sizes to accommodate various IGU cavity requirements.
